🔹 General Description
Promedica Urbical is a premium, self-curing, radiopaque calcium hydroxide material engineered for direct and indirect pulp capping, as well as acting as a protective cavity liner under all types of restorative materials. Developed and manufactured in Germany, this two-paste system provides an alkaline environment that stimulates the formation of secondary dentin while acting as an effective protective shield against chemical insults and thermal shocks from permanent filling materials.
🔹 Package Details (Important)
Packaging: Two-Tube Paste System with Outer Box
Contents:
1 Tube of Urbical Base ($13\text{g}$ configuration)
1 Tube of Urbical Catalyst ($11\text{g}$ configuration)
Technical instructions and mixing guide
👉 Total: 1 complete self-curing calcium hydroxide liner kit ($24\text{g}$ total mass)
🔹 Key Features
Secondary Dentin Stimulation: High calcium hydroxide concentration maintains an alkaline pH, promoting natural pulp healing and defensive dentin bridge formation.
Excellent Pulp Protection: Forms a rigid barrier that insulates the delicate dental pulp against thermal changes and chemical irritation from acid-etch gels, monomer resins, or cements.
Perfect Under-Restoration Compatibility: Will not inhibit the polymerization of light-cured or self-cured composites, glass ionomers, or amalgams.
Optimal Flow & Short Setting Time: Features an ideal fluid paste-to-paste consistency that flows easily onto the cavity floor yet sets rapidly once mixed.
High Radiopacity: Distinct radiographic contrast ensures clear identification on postoperative dental X-rays, preventing confusion with secondary caries.
🔹 Indications
🔹 Indirect pulp capping over deep carious lesions to protect vital pulpal tissues.
🔹 Direct pulp capping on small, accidental or traumatic mechanical pulp exposures.
🔹 Protective cavity lining underneath composite resins, amalgams, glass ionomers, and cements to guard against sensitivity.
🔹 Clinical Notes
Thoroughly clean and dry the preparation. For direct exposures, maintain strict hemorrhage control before application.
Dispense equal lengths of the Base and Catalyst pastes onto a clean, non-absorbent mixing pad.
Mix both portions thoroughly with a small spatula for approximately 10 to 15 seconds until a completely homogenous, uniform color is achieved.
Apply a thin layer directly over the deepest parts of the cavity using a ball-ended applicator tool and allow it to air-set chemically before proceeding with the final restoration.
💡 Summary
A highly predictable, German-engineered pulp-capping and lining solution designed to encourage biological tooth repair while safeguarding delicate nerve tissues. Combining efficient setting times with reliable paste-to-paste dispensing, it forms a vital defensive foundation for deep, conservative dental restorations.
